changing the oil change Toyota Rav4

Ok, so after paying a guy to put Mercedes recommended synthetic oil in my 2008 RAV for the past 5 years, I decided I needed to find a less expensive alternative.
First particulars
2008 RAV with the V6
150000 miles
Mostly a normal driver however road trips tend to bend the traffic laws, have cruised at 80+ for periods of 100 miles.
Home is Yuma Arizona, VERY sandy, VERY hot.
OCI is 5000 miles
Lots of commuting between Las Vegas and Yuma

Toyota recommends 5w30 ISLC multigrade

Need a recommendation for Synthetic oil, good but not expensive,thinking Castrol High Mileage, and a good filter, not to expensive, I have paid close to $80 for most oil changes, and have a guy that will do it for $10 if I bring the oil and filter.
Walmart has the castrol for $17 for 5 qts and a filter should run less than $10, thinking about $45,

That would be fine, especially for 5k, as would the cheapest synthetic you can pick up at Chinamart or anywhere else, assuming it carries the correct approvals and whatnot. To be honest, I'd just run at nice dino (Pennzoil conventional, Valvoline conventional, Mobil Super) and a Toyota filter for 5k if you're looking to save some cash. Possible a syn blend, but a Full Synthetic like M1 or PP, for example, can handle way more than 5k, espcially if you do a lot of open highway driving.

Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w30 and a fram ultra, and go 10K OCI's, make sure you check level and top off as needed

If you really want 5K oci I would go with whatever is cheapest and don't over think it

Probably an autozone, aap, oreilly combo deal

Napa silver is good cheap filter with cheapest oil ie supertech

Pick any name brand conventional or synthetic in the proper viscosity and a good filter and change every 5k miles. I wouldn't use a high mileage oil unless you have a reason to use one like a leak or something. Some others opinions may vary. You will be hard pressed to beat Walmart prices on oil unless you catch a really good sale. You can use synthetic if you want but for 5k intervals it is not needed. My Tacoma gets conventional 5w30 and Napa filters every 5k miles. Once warranty is up I will switch to PP, Castrol Edge, or Mobil 1 and a higher quality filter and stretch my intervals out to probably 8k miles. Our Mazda has 90k miles and I have went to 8k intervals with synthetic and all is well. Extended the intervals on it at 50k miles.

It's a toyota put whatever oil brand you want in there it'll never know the difference

I use PP, Quaker State Ultimate Durability or Mobil 1 5w20 in my 4cyl but if you have the 2GRFE V6 I would run 5w30. Any filter and 5000 OCI. I would not extend the OCI on a 2GRFE due to the oil control valves and screens in the VVT system.

Synthetic keeps them clean. Dont forget to replace your PCV

I use Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 and Toyota filter in my 2009 Venza V6.

This combo should suit your needs very well.

And cost you $30 or so for an oil change.

I'd like to hear more as Toyota recommends 10,000 mile oil changes for the V6 with synthetic oil.
