... and don't forget the safety cone and a flagman standing behind your vehicle. Be sure the blinking red light in on the whole time your vehicle is up on those ramps. Have the safety and evacuation map posted on the wall along with the first aid kit and fire extinguisher at the ready. Be sure to have your insurance rider for you homeowner coverage amended to cover a vehicle on ramps and notify the fire department when you are ready to start. wheeeeeew.

I changed my oil yesterday in a Camry and after reading this post I tried to get the car off the ramps by just pushing with my left foot. I could not. Maybe if I rocked it for a while longer I could have.

When I changed my oil the first time and I wasnt sure how much oil it took, I did this. You have to rock it for a little bit, but it can be done.

Is it best to leave the door open or closed, window open or closed as one is trying to jump in the car rolling off the ramps? Seems if your good at it you can leave the door closed.

I'd leave it closed and jump thru the window so that the door doesn't hit you in the butt.

I don't use ramps for oil changes. Maybe for suspension work or some other stuff. Some years ago one of my neighbors broke his left legs using ramps. He was backing his suburban down off the ramps with the door open and one leg hanging out. He must not have read the sign "Please keep all arms and legs inside the car until the ride comes to a complete stop."

I would think that saying to let it roll off the ramps is asking for trouble. On my ramps they have a shallow dip for the tires to sit in. Having the door open is a good way to get the door caught, injured or killed. If you are able to just let it roll off sooner or later someone is going to be taking the blocks out from behind the wheels and have the car roll with nobody in it. I see no reason for ramps to not be as safe most other forms of raising a vehicle up. A lot of people have been hurt just because they didn't use the jackstands correctly. For that matter some cars have come of lifts because the supports weren't put in the correct place and the lift area collapsed.

Considering the intellectual make-up of Castrol's users in Northeast Alabama, I suspect Castrol is betting that "ramps" are a 2x10 and concrete blocks. Not flat spot or ridge.

2x10? Well, shoot... while we're throwin' money away, why don't we just use of them new-fangled hydraulic jacks?

Never use a 2x10 when ten 1x2's will do the same job!

They must think idiots will keep adding while on the ramp to get level,

Well, the first couple of posters did misunderstand the purpose of the disclaimer. Just saying....
