Changing oil on 2006 Rav 4

I am changing the oil on a friends 2006 Toyota Rave 4 4cylinder. It calls for 5w-20 or 0w-20. I have mobil 1 synthetic 5w-30 for trucks or suv's. Can I use the 5w-30 synthetic oil in it and not cause any damage

Yes, but why not use what is recommended. 5-30 won't hurt...but it doesn't comport with what toyota recommends.

The 5-30 will be fine. I use 5-30 and ford calls for 5-20.

if your on warranty go with 5-20, if not go with the 5-30 but dont make a habit of doing it.

5-30 is is at least as good or better. That's all I use.

Read the manual my mother has a 2007 Rav4 and it says for severe service you can use 5w-30. I am putting 5w30 edge in for my mom's next OCI. I have been using mobil 1 5w20 but with the edge rebate and sale I'm going to use it.

It is smart to ask.
But there is not much difference.
The M1 5-30 will work great.
I'd actually prefer the 5-20.
