I'm using it in a Mazda Protege, how often do I need to change it, just normal driving.

Good question. its a good fluid so Every 100K would be safe. most cars never get the ff changed...

I'd do about 60k and have it sampled if it were me
Probably never, but somewhere between 50K and 75K will let you sleep better at night.
redline recommends changing @ mfg specified interval (whatever that is) They don't recommended extending the change interval.

They can't for liabity reasons, but that lube is a lifetime fill if there ever was one.

they seem to have no problem recommending 15K-18K oci for motor oil so I'm sure liability is not a concern.
The reasoning behind the gear lube is that there is no filtration. Wear material is only removed from the fluid by replacement.

Most transmissons have magnetic plugs to collect filings.
I worked at a trucking company and after the first change the diff oil was in for 1,000,000 miles with no problems

So the answers are: From 1,200 to 1,000,000 miles!
I am a too frequent changer of fluids.
But every 2-3 years seems like good maintenance for a trans for everything to be in continual top shape.
Can that Redline go longer? Absolutely!
Do you have a small trans capacity? That is a contributing factor.
Manual transmissions or transaxles have from .9 qt to 4 or more. With a small capacity, I would shorten the OCI of the fluid.

I've been using RL MTL for hundreds of thousands of miles, and since I change it myself, and get it cheap, I usually don't go over about 30k miles. But I have a small sump--less than 2 litres--, so I'm a bit cautious.
I wouldn't sweat it if I extended it to 50k, though. I just don't believe there is such a thing as a lifetime fluid.
