Hi Guys.
I changed OEM NGK spark plugs with Champion platinum spark plugs in my 2009 Elantra.
After few days driving now i fell lacking power.
This could be due to Champion spark plugs?
Cheers.

Now you know why they use NGK as OEM spark plugs.

+3-never buy them-lawn mowers don't like em either.

In 1975 I had a new spark plug failure, it was a champion.
In 1987 I had a new spark plug failure, it was a champion.
I learned my lesson, Ever since it has been Bosch, Nippondenso or NGK
I have NEVER had another problem.
But if I were to buy plugs tomorrow, it would be NGK

Some Hyundai's came from the factory with Champions. Make sure you have the correct heat range as what you took out. Obviously heat range doesn't completely interchange between brands.

The loss of power could have been caused by many things. They might have not been properly gapped, or the original equipment may not be platinum. Also, the wires are supposed to be changed the same time the spark plugs are. I'm not sure if your car has spark plug wires. My mom's Civic has a coil pack over each spark plug instead.

+1 I'm getting ready to do plugs on my new (to me) truck. I haven't looked yet, but have read that they have champion coppers from the factory. really doesn't bother considering they are going to be easy to change and when you have to buy 16 of them price matters. lol.

if I can I'm gonna clean and regap tho old ones and run them down to a nubben if they are not there already.

Sure you probably could clean and regap them , but then again new ones are only like $1-50 to $2 bucks a piece. I just get new copper oem plugs every 25k and it works well

I have replaced dozens of Champion plugs that didn't work and only a handful of other brands. I don't buy the "work in Chryslers because they came stock" thing either. They are just plain bad plugs, Chrysler doesn't have any special in their engines that will make up for that.

If pricing is so important remember that a nearly identical motor, the 6.1 liter V8, has 16 plug heads and uses NGK Iridiums. The only difference is the change interval: 100k miles!

Always be cautious in any car when changing plugs as many are a bit fussy about the choice, but Hemis run great on almost any plug except the E3's and such snake oil types.

As a lifelong MOPAR fanatic ranging from muscle cars of the 60's and 70's( I had them during the 80's )to cars and trucks from the 80's through the present( new vehicles )let me say I completely disagree with your statement. Champion plugs suck just as bad in a MOPAR as they do any other application. My brother was driviing during the muscle car era and he hated Champion plugs too as did most people with MOPARS.

I used to sell auto parts in the late 80's to the late 90's. I did have some people who were OEM fanatics but far and away whether it was a walk in DIY'er or a regular mechanic asking for plugs Champion was not wanted. I had regular mechaniucs who falt out told me not to ever send them a Champion plug even for a MOPAR. They would rather wait for me to order in a different brand for later in the day then take the Champions. When I sold parts far and away I had more bad plugs out of the box or returned in short order with Champion than any other brand we sold.

I don't mind Champion in small yard equipment but I will never buy their plugs for a vehicle. Actually, my 08 Ram w/ HEMI came with Champion plugs as OE issue. When they are replaced it will NOT be with Champion plugs. I will more than likely go with NGK.

Add me to the X# list for Champion plugs suck( regardless of car mfg they are in ).
