Champion Labs oil filters

I was just curious if anybody has ever heard of Trust Oil filters. We use them quite often at work when we run out of our Shell "Purolator" oil filters. Some of these Trust filters are spitting images of AC Delco filters. I was wondering if the media was the same. I know they are made by Champion labs because that is what it says in the catalog.

If these filters are ok to run, I would rather run them, $1.87/ea vs. $4+ for the Wix. If they are of the same quality as the STP filters, I don't see why they would be all that bad.

I think anything that Champion Labs is good. I also think Wix is very good. Which is better??

We know that Walmart SuperTech are tough to beat-that might be a better play than the Trust.- Don't really know though.

i don't like anything champion labs makes...i avoid them...i love wix they flow 11-13gpms and filters great..also baldwin makes excellent filters...

A few questions: How many different filters made by Champion have you actually used and what about them made you not like Champion filters? How many Wix filters have you used? How many Baldwin filters have you used? What was it about using these filters that made you "love" them?

I think I will cut open an STP and a Trust filter just to make sure the media is the same. If I don't like what I see, I will just stick with the Wix filters.

It's gonna be hard to tell a whole lot. Best you can probably do is check on th number of folds. But having said that-I cut them open also. That's why I say WIX is well made-structurally and they have a coil instead of a leaf spring.

i see champion as a run of the mill mass marketing company making all kinds of cheap filters one can buy at Walmart..i buy stuff from the companies that are not so readily avail to public those compannies tend to make the best stuff therefore you would pay more...i just choose companies that make quality stuff for all modes of transportation...for example. if you want superb speakers i would not buy sony or pioneer etc. but i go and buy jbl, cerwin vega those companies that deal with the pros...its just the way iam.....i have used mobil 1 oil filters, wix, k&n and baldwin, donaldson...and i like the way wix performs much better then the rest...i also look at the companies history and finacial structure which tells me how they feel about quality...i investigatethings to death..

Yeah everything seems to be champion, they make a broad range of filters, in general I think they make decent filters.

I used Trust filters for nearly 6 years straight on my 95 Escort wagon. When the sale was on I would pick up 5-6 trust filters at a time for .79 cents a piece and a few cases of house brand 5w30 motor oil (called Parts Plus) at .49 cents a quart (which I also used in my wife's Taurus)!!

Sort of like the "I've used Fram all my life without any problems" story. For all I knew the Trust could have been the absolute worst or another Supertech sleeper filter. They seemed to have worked fine though as that car is now over 135,000 miles and runs like the day it rolled off the dealer's lot.

I'd love to hear about their construction if you cut one open.

I just got a reply comparing the STP to the Trust filter, here is what Champion Labs said.

The Trust oil filters use a media that is rated at around 25 micron. The
STP filters have slightly more synthetic material in the filter media,
giving them a higher efficiency of 20 microns.

Kind of intersting that the media is different, but everything else is the same.

Not unusual at all. Champion installs multimple types of media and multiple designs of cannisters-just depends on the buyer's specs. But it's good you did the research and found that essentially the Trust is a lower efficiency filter.

Could on the other hand be a candidate forthose that desire higher flow rates. Supertech is also another 20 micron filter made by champion.
