Hey, all, searched for this but only got a hint.

The salvage grocery store where I buy a lot of my provisions always has some of these Champ PH51-A filters on the shelf for about a buck. One post here made me think they might be the equivalent of the ACDelco PF52, which is the oversized filter for my Buick 3.8-liter Series II engine.

Is this right? Would the Champ PH51-A fit? And are they good filters for a six-month, 5400-mile OCI?

Thanks, Gregory,

I'm using a Wix filter right now. Are these specs you quote listed as being for the Champ PH51-A?

Two things equal to the same thing are also equal to each other. So it should work!

Are Champ Labs filters in the same class of construction quality as Wix or Baldwin, or OEM, that I can safely run a 5400-mile, 6-month OCI?

Champ offers any level of performance that anyone can pay for. Their name brand offering is (an opinion) like PP, Proselect, CQ red, etc. They offer Warner which is a quicklube type thing ..and K&N and M1 for the top tier offings. They're a job shop with a cheaper house offering (again, an opinion) if you compared it to something like WIX.

Wix specs listed.

you can use the specs to find a larger or smaller filter to fit your car.

Benz,

The price is right..Why not get one and see if it fits??

The PF51 is an old design from AC without an ADBV. The PF 52 is the same filter, but has an ADBV and is the service replacement. Check the Champ filter for an ADBV, and see if your application actually requires one. You could be in luck.

In my opinion, champ house filters suck. During an oil chnage I had one on, oil was really black like 1,000 miles in. Took it off, put on an AATG filter and it turned it gold again. Would not recomend the house brand. AATG(purolator/Pureone) in my opinion are the best for the money.
