Champ PH2867XL *CUT OPEN*

Thanks for posting!

My 2022 Nissan Frontier uses the same oil filter. The more I see these cut open filters, the more I realize what one person gets doesn't mean that's exactly what another is going to get. For instance, my Champ XL PH2867XLs, don't have an orange "silicone" ADBV. Regardless, they seem like a decent filter for the ~$5 range. My filter was in use for ~3 months and 5000 miles w/ Castrol GTX full synthetic 0w20. ~10K miles total on this VQ38DD engine.

I ordered 12 of rockauto and they came in today. Was expecting them to have silicone adbv but they all have the black rubber. Idc I’m still running them the entire maintenance minder on my families Hondas

What oil and filter went back in and on?

That e-core has got to flow better than the louvers; I don't see how it couldn't.
It will not flow more oil volume at the same RPM as long as the oil pump isn't in pressure relief because oil is pushed/forced through the oiling system by a PD oil pump. An eCore cage might lower the flow vs dP curve by 0.5 PSI or less ... which doesn't really matter with a PD oil pump.

I just ordered some Wagner brake parts from Rockauto and was pleased to see that the
ChampXL 2867's shipped from the same warehouse. I was able to add 4 of them without
causing an increase in shipping costs. All 4 had the red (silicone I assume) ADBV.
Unless the filter media is different they seem to be the same filter as the ST 20K rated 7317 which has a blue (again silicone I assume) ADBV.

I just ordered 2 of the Champ XL filters from RockAuto...I will be disappointed if the ADBV is Nitrile instead of the Silicone they advertise as that was the reason I ordered them for the same approximate price as the ACD blue can filters...

the 2 Champ XL (PH44XL) filters I ordered last Friday arrived Monday and the metal can was a dark, flat gray color rather than the much lighter silver color I've seen in photos (this is my first use of this filter) and the ADBV in mine were orange silicone rather than the reported here black nitrile...
