Can any ceiling fan be controlled with a remote? I understand I would need a transmitter in order for it to work. I just don't know if they sell separate transmitters with remote for ceiling fans.

Yes. Lowes or Homedepot. Need transmitter (goes in fan ) and remote. Maybe cheaper to buy one with it.

I bought one from Lowes for $30. Works great. 3 speeds and can turn the light on/off & dim. Simple to install.

I also installed a remote control eliminator, a switch on the wall because the darn things fail after a few years and are a pain to fix. I determined that I do not change the speed often enough to benefit from a remote and the switch on the wall works just fine.

Cool. It's hard to find a fan that's 48" or less with the option pull chain and remote.

I bought a fan and it didn't work. I double checked the wiring and nothing. Was my first fan install.

We have remote controls on each of our fans, and they work great. All are much more than 7 years old, maybe newer ones are of dubious quality.

There really isnt much to it, most fans just have separate light and motor wiring, so one merely connects each to the specific switched hot off of the remote box, and then the remote box connects to the house wiring.

If one were to fail, Id just pull the fan down and replace, pretty darn easy for any fan at a reasonable height.

They are pretty cheap and readily available at any home store.

After figuring it out it was pretty easy.
