Interesting discussion. I agree that talking heads of any ilk are difficult for a thinking person to abide.

My problem with this whole story is that "W" and the GOP have gone after "K"'s military COMBAT record. The Dems, rightly so have attempted to counter with the FACT that "W" slimed out of his service once sent to Flight School. As a veteran it torques me off to see a COMBAT veteran get dissed by folks who avoided SE Asia fighting. I respect Kerry for that and it says lots about him.

I do respect anyone who flew F102/106 aircraft but to go UA or AWOL in a guard unit is odd and uncomfortable to my nearly 10 years of service, some of which put me in harms way. I would have been arrested if I had decided not to show up for multiple Mideast trips when I served.

Cheney is another who's hawkish stand and job as attack dog doesn't set well with me when he was busy learning geology. The ACTION of men speaks more loudly to me than rhetoric.

this election is different than last time. much more on the line. the only reason I back kerry is that I fear the alternative and see that many dont understand that we are losing our country.

It seems to me that many are falling for the bait that is being pushed by SOME that want a different president.

What I fear IS a differnt president that MAY get to APPOINT 1-3 Supreme Court Justices.Then WE will lose more that we have thought about.

Yes there is much on the line,the very being of our great country is at stake and the Supreme Court will more than likely have much to say about this in the coming years.

Are those that want a change in the presidency prepared for the outcome of a more LIBERAL court?

I dont think many truly are.

***Balance***, in transitioning the US to a International economy. You ,fellow worker bees, are giving away our equity for a dime on a dollar. Corporations, Congress, you name the power structure is screwing the US citizen/worker, allowing a equity grab to take place. The only way to stop it is vote, Now if W wants to help protect the average fella great, I don't see it. His policies with the current congress are crushing the average Joe and any chance at a decent LIVEABLE wage.

All the flag waving in the world doesn't hide that from those who will see it.

Is JFKerry the answer, I don't know, but I sure know W isn't.

Just lovin' this conversation...but must chime in. I see a lot of W bashin' on subjects that I'd be curious to know if anyone has specific facts on..I only see stand operating D issue comments with no specific points. As far as "the worker bees" I'd like to know why worker bees don't like to have more money in their pockets like W wants? Tax break for middle class just passed in Congress that W wanted real bad..since when has D's ever given wide ranging tax breaks? o.k..I know...last one was JFK...well, gee that was 40 + years ago...hello! I agree that K doesnt' have a compass...he flip flops more than anyone I've ever heard of..heck I'd take Clnt back before K. At least with W, you pretty much know where he stands on issues. That's called principled leadership! You don't flip flop your guiding values as a leader based on polling data. Many people probably don't like all of W's positions, as I know I sure don't..but ya gotta admire the fact that he's firm in his convictions and determined to see them through. What else do you want from a Pres.? Oh, and K's Vietnam war record...please, it was 4 months and even that was only about half of that in battle zones...and gee, where did all the photos and 8mm video camera photo ops of him come from in that short period of time? My uncle was in AF in Vnam and tells me that something is just downright "not-right" with that. The guy had an agenda way back then. That much time in front of a camera with only 4 months in country? Sounds fishy to me. I also agree that Vietnam service records shouldn't have been brought up. That dog didn't hunt in the 2000 campaign and it doesn't hunt now (even with fake "non-official" docs!). Too bad K had to make it his mantra during D Nat Convention. Why didn't they talk about K's "Awesome" senate record? is none, perhaps? Can anyone name any prominent legislation from K in his 20 years in Senate? Look it up...nothing except his name on MIA/POW bill early in his career. Why is he on the Intelligence Committe but has been absent in over 70% of the Committee mtgs? Irag intellegence that convinced W to go to War was same as Senate intellegence...K never saw more than half of the stuff,cause he wasn't there! I'm not saying W is the best Pres ever...**** no!...but come on guys..K? If that happens...watch out for the US to become subservant to UN (and aren't they just a bunch of great, upstanding, leaders...uughh, choke!)

I love this country! I pray to God to give me the wisdom to make the right vote in this upcoming election for the sake of my children and future grandchildren!

Terry,I dont want to get real political here,but,my brother and his wife ARE far from being rich,they are what many would consider middle class.

The tax cuts from Bush have helped them.He is a truck driver and she works at a computer information center.The tax cuts have helped and will CONTINUE to help them.
What is wrong with helping my brother and his wife and child?


TEXDOG,On the Supreme court issue that was brought up.I agree that the S-C is more conservative than they are middle of the road.However,it is not as conservative as it was in the past.It is also not as right as some would make it out to be.

What worries me is K and his Senate record.He is the leftist of left,this is proven by his voting record.
This is also proven by orginizations that rate such.K is extreme left,if given the chance to place a justice,it will be the leftist of left.

Which is better for our country,a justice that is just to the right of middle or a justice that is extreme left?
The extreme left scares me and others.

The possibilty of 1-3 extreme left S-C justices SHOULD scare people.The placement of such will have a very great impact on us ,our children and and grandchildren.The S-C decisions have far reaching effects that will be felt for years to come.

Is this what K supporters want?

Do I agree with everything that B does? No,but I am not going to cut off my nose and go for K to spite my face as it seems that some are planning on doing.

I'm all for tax breaks or repeals. But get that hand out of the other side of my pocket..... WARNING THIS IS A RANT......

If my business is busy carrying the world on its shoulders because my employees need healthcare,retirement, and a reasonable benefits package and I am told you now can have a health spending account to compensate for the lack of cost controls on medicals expenses,what do I do as a small business owner in the US ? Send all my work to China where I can get the product produced for pennies or stand up and take care of my people while congress and W sell me out to the overseas competition ? There are no FREE markets except in a economics theory book. Your country and Gov had better be batting for you as a nation of business's or the other countries will eat us alive. Certain business communities in this nation are being thrown to the wolves while upper management is parachuting with the cash derived from the "transition equity".

From a worker point of view the average US worker is making less now in TOTAL compensation than they were 4 years ago. While producing more than any other nation on earth,idiots. Like ants scrambiling for another crumb.

The current Administration is good to the large corporate entities and selling out the small companies they tout as being so friendly to. Of course we can pray about it and wave the flag while we sell America out.

Both parties are killing us cause WE don't vote or don't vote intelligently.

I just love when Kerry runs the ads about Bush sending jobs overseas when HEINZ makes 80% of their products OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES!. He talks out of both sides of his mouth to suit the tone of the day. Example....In 1997 he took the stand that the US should take whatever preemptive measures are necessary in Iraq...quite contrary to what he says now. I was at a conference last week where General Schwarzkopf spoke and I was reminded he earned 2 purple hearts for going to war 4 times. The fact that John Kerry has 3 purple hearts compared to the Generals 2 is a slap in the face. This country is going to be in serious trouble in John Scary is elected. Sorry about the rant but Kerry makes my skin crawl.

Brett, I respect your concerns and opinions. I wish Citizens would be as engaged during Congressional and Senatorial elections as they make the laws we toil under. We get what we elect.

Take a look at their total compensation for serving and you'll be more torqued about what they are making (for life) than a rich Massachusetts JFK wannabe will ever impact us as Pres.

Are these people for real? A USA Today/CNN/Gallup poll in my local paper, 56% say the story was an honest mistake, 64% wouldn't fire Rather, the majority trust CBS News, and overwhelmingly believe the report was not part of any political agenda. Surely USA Today/CNN/Gallup wouldn't have managed to conduct a biased poll. This is the most upsetting poll I have seen since the one saying the majority of Americans admire Bill Clinton for his ability to lie out of things.
