****We interrupt this programming with a special bulletin from CBS news and Dan Rather.****

Good afternoon everyone.This is Dan(KING)Rather.

I am breaking in to warn internet users of the site called BITOG.It seems that this site may he hiding highly SECRET documents regarding Pres. George Bush and his National Guard service.

My source is telling me that the site,BITOG(BobIsTheOilGuy),has the copies that prove that George Bush did get help in his National Guard career.
My source also tells me that those involved with the site have the documents to prove that MY previous story on 60 Minutes II, IS TRUE .They are hiding these documents in an undisclosed place.I,Dan (KING) Rather, guarantee that I WILL get the records to uphold this story.

My source also tells me that the site in question is for the most part a very radical group that uses the front of being motor oil fanatics when in fact they are a very radical political group. They have been know to think for themselves, they do this without MY help, this MUST stop.

My source also says that those involved with the group are very intelligent and capable of understanding a vast wealth of knowledge. This group, according to my source, also is able to sort through the STORIES that I and my colleagues pass along as truth every day.

This group is a danger to America and the world. The ability to think for oneself is a terrible thing and must be put to a stop.

Once again,I am warning people of this site.
If more NEWS breaks on this story,I will bring it to you immediately.

This is Dan(KING) Rather reporting.

Here is an opinion from the Mulling's Report:

quote:

News Flash! CBS used undependable documents to damage the Presidential campaign of George W. Bush.

The story first aired on September 8 but it took until September 20 for CBS to admit that the documents were … Hmmm, just what did CBS admit to, and apologize for?

Nothin', is what.

According to a Page One Washington Post piece by Howard Kurtz, "CBS is still not saying that the memos are forgeries, only that the network cannot confirm they are authentic."

And Dan Rather, according to Kurtz' story, still believes he is being put upon by people who, as Rather put it, "have a specific partisan political or ideological agenda."

Earth to Rather.

According to USA Today, Bill Burkett, the guy who gave the documents to CBS, says that part of the "understanding" was to have CBS put him in touch with a high ranking staffer in the Kerry campaign. CBS producer Mary Mapes called Joe Lockhart (one of the 2,357 spokesmen recently added to the Kerry campaign) and "asked him to call Bill Burkett."

Which Lockhart did, leading one to an interesting, if oxymoronic, discussion about campaign ethics.

TiVo and replay in slow motion: Mary Mapes - a CBS News producer - calls Joe Lockhart - a senior Kerry campaign operative - not to move the story ahead or get Kerry's reaction to the memos; but solely and specifically to get a known anti-Bush guy in contact with the top echelons of the Kerry campaign.

Earth to Mapes.

As part of its cover up, CBS pointed a finger at White House communications director Dan Bartlett who had been shown the memos a few hours ahead of the original broadcast. According to USA Today's summary of what happened and when (called, in the trade, a "tick-tock"), Bartlett did "not challenge the authenticity of the documents."

That may be among the more outrageous bits of this whole sordid story. CBS shows a senior White House staffer some documents who, expecting a well-respected news organization to behave in a more-or-less principled manner, never thinks to challenge their validity. Bartlett did, however, strongly disagree with CBS' central theory - that Lt. George W. Bush did not serve honorably in the National Guard.

Nevertheless, CBS puts Bartlett's non-challenge into the "Documents Authenticated" column and uses that as evidence of its thoroughness.

Earth to CBS.

CBS will go out of the news business. Not tomorrow afternoon, but fairly soon. And so will NBC and ABC.

The exact moment marking the beginning of the end of broadcast network news will be remembered as the evening of Tuesday, August 31, 2004 when Fox News Channel drew over 7 million viewers; more than any outlet - cable or broadcast - to its coverage of the Republican National Convention.

CBS, NBC, and ABC are no longer the go-to places for news. They have become exclusively entertainment engines. Proof: Which of those three did you watch when you were tracking Hurricane Ivan?

As more people turn more often to cable, the bean counters at the major nets will decide they can allow their affiliates to contract for national news with CNN or Fox or whomever they want and save the networks the enormous expense of running their own news divisions.

Dan Rather will not be the cause CBS going out of the news business. But, this episode will most certainly hasten its departure.

Good night, Chet. Good night, David.

Actually, it's 250+ SWIFTBOAT VIETNAM VETERANS that are not too happy with JFKerry. Many, perhaps most, are upset with what JFKerry did AFTER he returned from Vietnam, not so much what he did while there.

I still don't get the point of the JFKerry campaign. What someone did as a junior officer more than 30 years ago versus the Commander-in-Chief for the last 4 years? JFKerry can't win that one.

Apparently a lot of people aren't getting the point of the JFKerry campaign, which has shrunk down to Vietnam, daily updates on new Iraq strategies and socialized health care. Maybe some of his campaign staff don't want him to win

250 USN riverine patrol guys who actually fought have the same right that Kerry did to speak up about what they saw and experienced.

Thats my point.

Political ideology aside if you haven't been in harms way ( like W ) being "strong" on defense rings hollow for me as a veteran.

Kerry as a veteran and anti war activist called it the way he saw it, the fact that many forget the atrocities of Vietnam is very short sighted.

All the party posturing over the current or past war stuff is smoke.

I despise Ted Kennedy's overlooking Mary Jo in his car as much as I despise people who promote fighting and killing until its their turn to step into the ring, being in the military is not the same as killing and being killed while in the military.

Before you box me in remember I am the one who suggested using tactical nukes in IRAQ and maybe Iran soon.

I voted for Kerry in the Primary and unless W shows me something new soon will again.

Diving for my foxhole.

My problem with this whole story is that "W" and the GOP have gone after "K"'s military COMBAT record.

C'mon now Terry, out of your foxhole, we won't shoot!

Now seriously, do you really think the "R's" would have anything to say about "K's" record had he not brought his dismal military record to the forefront as a smokesreen for his dismal record in the Senate?

I thought you were Libertarian?

I did pick dem ballot in primary because I had to choose but I only voted for one office, senator, others blank. I was only voting to vote against local tax increase. I refused to select dem or repub on my registration thingy. It had a space for other, so I wrote Libertarian. The ladies distributing balots were confused. (we had no libertarian primary) But thankfully they will be on the ballot in Nov.

Fortunately most veterans don't share Terri's narrow view points or anti Bush sentiments. They, along with the active duty people will be voting strongly for Bush. Bush is in a position to make sure the active duty people have their vote counted this year and benefit from it.

Personally I don't think what either candidate did or didn't in the Vietnam era is that important. I would like to see the money going into the Swift Boats ads go to exposing Kerry's senate record.

Interesting discussion. I agree that talking heads of any ilk are difficult for a thinking person to abide.

My problem with this whole story is that "W" and the GOP have gone after "K"'s military COMBAT record. The Dems, rightly so have attempted to counter with the FACT that "W" slimed out of his service once sent to Flight School. As a veteran it torques me off to see a COMBAT veteran get dissed by folks who avoided SE Asia fighting. I respect Kerry for that and it says lots about him.

I do respect anyone who flew F102/106 aircraft but to go UA or AWOL in a guard unit is odd and uncomfortable to my nearly 10 years of service, some of which put me in harms way. I would have been arrested if I had decided not to show up for multiple Mideast trips when I served.

Cheney is another who's hawkish stand and job as attack dog doesn't set well with me when he was busy learning geology. The ACTION of men speaks more loudly to me than rhetoric.

I agree with a lot of Terry's viewpoints.

Kerry brought up his record bc HE knew the Republicans would attack him as being incapable of fighting a war on terror and also that he is too liberal. So he went out on the offensive and was basically saying, look I've been to war and I know what it's about and I can defend this country. Tommy Franks flat out said Kerry would be a very capable leader. I'm sure Kerry would appoint many respectable advisors.

labman, did you ever stop and think your view is narrow and that we just removed a freakin guy that was keeping these @ssholes that are killing are guys inline? Food for thought.

" I thought you were Libertarian? "

I am. Conservative Libertarian.

First time since 1978 I have voted for a Democratic candidate for President.

I want a National Leader who can articulate his thoughts without **** Cheney on his lap ! ...... I thought that was really funny !

Both major US parties suck.

Kerry can think and speak on his feet and I know that the conservative Congress will check him on agendas that don't sit well with me. I also know that the GOP is selling a lot of flag waving that means little to the guys and gals on the frontline.

Labman, I have been meeting the troops going in and out of the Mideast because I volunteered to actually fly them there under CRAF since BEFORE the Iraq war was started so I am getting real time combat info from real vets. The kind that kill and are killed and maimed..

W had my support for Iraq, I voted with my butt and feet, he lost it when he had no effective plan for the peace in Iraq. His screwing the pooch in both Theatres of war has allowed the reconstitution of Al Queda/Bathists , Taliban in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The hesitation in Najaf recently tells me that Washington is running the battlefield and interdiction too closely.

Narrow minded ? I consider myself a realist and vote with my actions and pen.

I may have a William Tell complex here at BITOG, but what the heck I consider most of you very good friends.

So yes a Christian ( non denominational), veteran, business owner, who is a conservative libertarian voted for JF Kerry.

Ain't America Great, "little pink houses for you and me". John Mellencamp, fellow Hoosier.

Terry I was very much considering voting for Kerry for your exact reasons....until yesterday. The man has NO true compass, he will hack ANYTHING down to bring himself up. It is NOT country first with him....just thought you should know.

Terry well said.
cheers.gif
Guy's the polls are even, the debates are going to decide this election. I think they are going to have a huge impact on the undecided voter.

Kerry is a flip flopper no doubt, but I think many are going to chose him anyway over Bush's recklessness post-war. Also, Bush has flip flopped himself quite a few times.

Neat thing about our Republic is that Congress will check Kerry on many of the issues that all of us are concerned about. Its time for a change in Foreign policy and W had his chance. I like the guy, just not in the White House.

Both these guys are driven by getting power and telling you what you want to hear. Both Parties do the same and then screw each and every one of us.

Cool that CBS and Dan R the talking head is watching us at BITOG...

******THIS IS A CBS NEWS SPECIAL REPORT******

And Now,Dan(KING)Rather

Good afternoon everyone.I am bringing you an urgent update regarding a story I told yesterday about an internet site called Bob Is The Oil Guy.
It seems that there is a division(HEHEHE),AHEM,beginning to come about on this site(HEHEHE,HOHO,HEHEHE)AHEM,excuse me.

It seems that some are starting to express doubts about Pres Bush and his service record.
HEHEHE,HOHOHOHO,HEHEHE,AHEM.

It seems as if some have started to believe and accept the point of view that I and my colleagues have been pushing,er,I mean, reporting on for a few months now.HEHEHEHEHE,HOHO,HEHEHE,AHEM,excuse me.
Giggle, giggle,Ahem. This story has been a terrible thing for me to report(SNORT,SNORT,HEHEHEHEHE,AHEM.

It is evident,as I said, that the site or in other terms, this political group,is having internal problems.

It would seem that the site is have a problem with free thinking and the news(GIGGLE,GIGGLE)that I have been reporting on concerning the service records of Bush.It would seem that some are beginning to see the TRUTH(HEHEHEHEHE)that I and my cohorts,er,colleagues have been saying for some time now(WOO,HEHEHEHE,WOO,HOHO)Ahem, excuse me,this is a terrible story and extremely hard for me to break to you(HEHEHE).

In recapping,it seems that there is a problem with the group,BITOG.It seems that some on the site are being slowly(HEHEHE),AHEM,excuse me.
It seems that some on the site have fallen,er,I mean, they have excepted my view,er,I mean the publics view of Bush.(HEHEHEHE)

It seems that some in the group may cause it to no longer be a danger to the US and the world. They are doing so by following me and my colleagues into a bliss of misinformation,er,I mean a knowledge of the truth.(HEHEHE,HOHO,WOO,WOO,HEHE)AHEM.

This is Dan(KING)Rather,if more updates are needed,I will bring them to you.

Lets not get into a real political discussion here. The posts I have made here are for the most part, sarcasm and tongue in cheek stuff.

We all have our opinions,I may not agree with you and it seems that MANY dont agree with me but WE have the right to an opinion.

Lets not get THIS discussion closed by getting into a REAL discussion.I think that we can ALL agree that for the most part that the general media is slanted to the liberal side.My posts here have only emphasized this.
