Hey guys I am looking for some info on this stuff. I'm not sure but I think it is CounterAct antirust he has installed on his car from the dealer.
My brother in law has a 2011 Honda Civic with this module installed on the car from the dealer and his battery sometimes goes flat after a few days and I suspect it is the cause.
First, is this tech viable on a car? I don't really believe it works for cars.
If it does, great! I'll get one and install it as we have a ton of salt up here.
I dug around and it adds 50mA to the parasitic draw on the car. He has 24/7 security he said (whatever that means on a Honda) and distance starting.
When I add all this up I believe, in the cold, it is too much parasitic drain on the battery.
I'd love to check the parasitic draw on his car but he lives in Laval.
If it works to keep rust off his car I can only recommend he carries a booster with him in the trunk so he doesn't get stranded, as I, myself would suffer along with this system myself if it actually works.
If it is bogus I can tell him to get the unit pulled off or do it for him if I can get a chance to figure out what this thing is in the first place!!
Thanks a lot guys!
Edit: I would also like to know if a battery dying on a 2011 Honda Civic is a common problem from an electronic subsystem or something. This is a real problem and I just don't have the time to diagnose his car by pulling fuses and watching a multimeter if there is a known issue with his car. I worry about him because he works long hours and I don't want him to get stranded!!
