This black cat I have had for a few years now is really starting to become a pain, scratches on doors wakes my parents up in the middle of the night. It was meowing by our screen door and unwisely I fed it now it won't leave. Is there anyway to get rid of it, I was thinking of getting it in my car and driving it to a territory not known to her. But I have read where they have an inner compass inside them by looking towards the stars for navigation any help would be great thanks.

Animal shelter, find a no-kill one and put the cat up for adoption. Leaving him/her out just in the wild is not a nice thing to do.

dumping them out in the country is not a good idea.
yeah,it may find its way back "home", but just as likely to get hit by a car, or killed by a larger predator along the way.

you say you've had this cat for "a few years", as in it's a feral cat that's been hanging around your property that long? or it was an indoor pet that you are trying to get rid of?

We had her spayed when she had kittens which the animal shelter took but, she stays out in the daytime and sleeps at our house at night thanks for the help.

True that could happen to her, yes it is a feral cat that found us one night by our screen enclosure probably someone elses cat and they didn't want her anymore so they kicked her out. She is a good cat just annoying at times.

you fed her so now you own her....if you can't take care of her properly or refuse to then do the right thing and follow the advice you've been given in here....find a no-kill shelter.

+1

Now they adopted you!

Give her a chance indoors. You started feeding her and the relationship started back then. Don't do her wrong.

I vote bring her inside. The cat sitting on my leg as I type was just such a creature. As were two of my other cats. All use the litter box and have been terriffic pets and are safe and sound. And fixed :-)

I see you are located in Florida ......

I could come down and baby-sit the cat until about April for you if you'd like. I don't eat much.

That! My wife didn't like cats when we bought the house, & there were two strays living nearby.

One is curled up on her barstool, one is sleeping on Liz's lap.

Plus people that live out in the country or boondocks don't like having so many dogs and cats dropped off.

I am one of the people that does not like to have animals dumped on me. I love animals but I can not take care of other peoples cast offs. Right now I have a beautiful black lab that was abandoned. The lab brought a little white cocker to me that had been attacked. I took her to the vet. She was on antibiotics for 14 days and 7 days of pain killers. Have you ever seen a small animal that has been attacked? This happen to her because someone dumped them. She lived for 4 years with me. I have a mixed breed now that was dumped on a dead end road. It was 104* that day. These 2 little ones make each day brighter. It is fun to watch the two of them play and try to get the most attention. They give so much love and all they ask is love,a little food and shelter.

Do the cat a favor and take her inside with you or a no kill shelter.

Can you also cook, clean and pass a background check ?

Often an indoor and outdoor cat will become an indoor only cat when it gets older.

We have had cats like that over the years. One in-particular one when we were kids, one of my younger brothers brought it in the house. My mother said what if that cat has kittens? The younger brother said it won't have kittens because we will name it Louie. Six months later we found out that would not work. Louie had kittens.

A general rule of thumb is every animal you let in cost you $1000 a year. Keeping that rule in mind we have a second rule. Only one cat at a time.

A few weeks a friend took in a abandoned cat which was around 10 years old..Every single shelter in my neck of the woods was full and refused to take the cat..Only one shelter said they would take the cat but put him to sleep in 24 hours..I taked him into keeping the cat and told him I would take care of the cat when he went out of town..If I did not have a super spoiled cat who has run of the whole house I would have taken the cat.

He decided to keep the cat..He took him to the vet to get his shots and for a complete check up..The cat is now out of the jungle heat and indoors 24/7 and having a awesome life as his cat also has run of the house.
