Castrol Syntech 0W30 Euro = GC?

I bought some Syntech 0w30 "European Formula" oil at AutoZone. Is this the fabled GC or did I pay too much for a group III?

I saw something in a message yesterday about something being green, is that the oil or the bottle.

What I bought was in black a bottle and the oil was well... amber

If it reads "Made in Germany" on the back label it is indeed GC, albeit the gold version.

Here is a thread with pics of the GC bottle and pics showing the green version of GC.

You can look at the numbers printed on the bottom of the bottles to determine if you have the green or gold. "M0501..." and earlier are green, "M0502..." and later are gold.
