It is similar to Castrol SLX, but Castrol SLX GM is not the same. It's pure PAO.

Sorry, but I have never heard a single word from the other oils you have just mentioned. (Lubro Moly and Penostin)

Almost every OEM in Europe has a name based oil release system for long oil drain intervals.

Some formulations fulfill more then one Spec, some are taylor made for one single engine. Because of that, these are especially expensive.

In addition, each OEM demands that the oil fulfills ACEA specs.

I can't tell you in general which is the most poular/best/cheapest oil in Germany.

Define your needs, maybe I can do a recommendation. What do you want for what engine? Fuel economy? Long drain? Wear performance? Best value?

Callisa, correct me if I am off base.

From my experience in the European, specifically German, PCMO market there are very FEW DIY oil changes.

Most folks have their services ( including oil changes) done by the dealer or a trusted repair shop and DEPEND heavily on their recommendations.

As long as the car runs well they pay little attention to oil brand unless they are traveling and need to top up.

A forum like this does nor exist (yet?) in Germany. I don't can't tell you which the most poular oil is.

Actually there is a very similar internet forum typed in German . I found it a year or so ago but it was very time consuming using the Babel Fish online translater to read the text so I quit going to the website .
