Castrol edge vs Mobil 1

hi everyone..

with the sale over at lowe's.. I was thinking about switching from Mobil 1 full synthetic to Castrol edge... even with the discounts at Costco.. is $27 for 6 quarts vs $18 for 5 quarts of Castrol Edge..

has any one notice any difference between the 2?

Get the Mobil 1. More Castrol for me and the boys.

oh... I did not know that..

currently I'm running 5k oci mobil 1 with an wix filter..

what would be the ideal oci with EP or edge

False. Black bottle Edge competes with regular Mobil 1. Gold bottle Edge Extended Performance competes with Mobil 1 Extended Performance. Regular Edge is not on the level of Mobil 1 Extended Performance.

Back on topic. What is the vehicle in question?

Most any vehicle should be fine with the Wix filter and whatever is cheaper of the two for 5k. Probably could easily go longer depending on the engine. Will wait for more information.

since all the closet lowe's around me is sold out.. I'm going to Walmart and pick it up.. since they have the price match guarantee and they have plenty of it..

my oil stash is down to like 10 quarts now lol..

I take it you have no personal preference for eith brand. I myself like Mobil 1 but on the other hand both are big brand names so depending on where you live and what's available I can't fault you on either one you like to use. The "edge" is just as good as the "One". Good oil will take you to what ever miles you like unless you one of those guys that like once per year OCI's. I don't like that myself. Currently I like 6K OCI's and wouldn't take it any farther unless I know the filter can do the same.

I would take any type of Mobil 1 over Castrol. Just not a fan really. Runs noisy in my engine. Mobil 1 is quiet. Your results may vary, of course.
 
I would take any kind of Castrol Edge over Mobil 1. Tried it but not a fan of Mobil 1. Runs noisier in my engine and created consumption when no other oil did. Every Castrol I've tried has been quiet, especially the gold bottle version. YMMV.

I'll trade you my lone bottle of Gold Castrol for a quart of m1 if you've got it!
