I purchased Castrol Edge 5w30 and a Purolator PureONE filter for my next oil change (next weekend.) Castrol claims that Edge is "guaranteed" for 15,000 miles or one year. Is this actually feasible? Is Edge really that good?

Normally I run conventional 5w30 (Mobil Clean 5000 or Quaker State green bottle when Clean 5000 is unavailable) and the ACDelco PF61 filter, and change the oil after 3000-4000 miles.

I was thinking the Edge and the PureONE would allow me to do a 7500-8000 mile OCI. Does that seem reasonable/safe?

EASY, I'd go for 10,000mi., stories have been told that many people have went further on lesser quality oil with no noticable effects.

If engine is in tune and driving is not considered "very severe" the Edge can definately do 8000 mile OCI easy. Good call on the oil filter. Definately want a filter that will keep the insolubles to a minimum when doing extended runs.

I was curious how long does your OLM typically recommend before oil change with your driving? If you been resetting it before it goes off can you extrapolate about how many miles the OM is recommending?
