Mileage and time interval since the prior change are correct at around 1,800 miles and 20 months. The prior oil change interval was approx 1,600 miles, not 52,000 shown.

I tried to make as few short trips as possible, but there were quite a few 15-20 mile roundtrips.

The only thing that struck me was the high magnesium level from the prior analysis (04-Mar-2021) dropped down to what I had seen in earlier Blackstone analyses. That Mar 2021 analysis was from oil bought around 2016 or 2017. Maybe Castrol changed something in that time period? Maybe just a fluke analysis from the lab?

I'd guess that whichever oil was in their prior to the two Castrol runs had lots of magnesium and what we're seeing is carryover that is slowly washing out. Virgin Castrol has only about 20ppm magnesium.

It was Castrol also, but your point about prior fills having a load of mg is likely. I two VOA's (I think from on here) of Edge 0W-30 filed away. One was from 2014 and shows 599ppm. The one from 2020 shows 17ppm. I'm assuming the same additive package was used in 0W-30 and 0W-40. I went thru this same revelation with myself in Mar 2021.

Thanks.
