Castrol Degreaser

This stuff is fantastic! Look for a purple spray bottle.

I messed up a seal the other day and it dumped black diesel oil all over my car.

I remembered this stuff getting good reviews (recommended for putting in radiators that have been contaminated with oil) and it worked great. I rolled up to the carwash, sprayed down the engine compartment, and started blasting. My engine now looks clean for once...it loses oil through a porous headgasket. The only stuff it couldn't remove was some very baked on charred oil. The clean parts are so clean now, absolutely dry as in no oily residue at all. Seeing the nice shiny paint under the hood makes me want to get that detail job done ASAP.

Then I get a flat tire and decide to clean all the CV joint grease piled up in the rim. I squirt it down and wait a few minutes. I didn't even have to get my hands dirty, a regular garden hose blew off the CV grease. As we all know CV grease is the most evil of greases.

I found out the Castrol stuff works great a long time ago. The Purple Power stuff at Walmart works just as well and costs about 60% as much. It smells exactly the same and is probably the same stuff...

ZEP purple degreaser from home depot is even a little bit better. be carefull, it will dry the skin on your hads out badly and will discolor aluminum and paint.

I use the Castrol too but will look at other similar stuff. It works very well, especially when you can brush it, but don't let it dry on a hot engine as it may spot, and be sure to rinse it well.

It's basically the same thing as Easy-Off oven cleaner put in pump spray form.

Hello Fellow members.

Castrol SuperClean, been using it for a few years now and I too have found it a really great de-greaser / clearner. Never used it as a engine degressear though. I find that it will take off brake dust off of magnesium rims and make them shine, along with road grime and dirt. A 4 Litre jug can be purchased at my local walmart for around $12 canadian and will last though at least 2 summers use.
