CARQUEST R 85348 CUT OPEN

This filter and unknown oil came off a 23’ Ford Edge. Last oci was 8k. Held up good I’d say. Nitrile adbv.

In/on: PROTEC 51348 and Safety Kleen 5w30 Synthetic DEXOS 1 Gen 3 motor oil. 44k on vehicle.

If a filter this good can be made for under $6 there's no excuse for any other brand to make low quality filters that can sometimes cost double.

Some extra glue but can’t complain, 8k on a 5k filter!!

Glue blobs stayed in place so that's good. Rest of the filter looks great.

That filter looks really decent. Looks like the filter media is maximized by plenty of pleats tightly spaced. I think I am going to pick up some Carquest oil filters based on what I am seeing.

I have been disappointed by the Wix 51348 and 57712 filters that I have cut open. There is not much filter area in those oil filters compared to the OEM filters

I can't escape this crazy thought that with these better constructed filters you could clean them out and slap them back in for another round of service...
