Carmaker Nissan on borrowed time?

I saw this on X, yesterday, but the headline is over-sensationalized. I am sure everyone is shocked.

First, the "source" is two unidentified people with supposed knowledge. Nissan is supposedly looking for someone to pick up the shares Renault wants out of. Its possible there having talks, but companies talk about all kinds of things.

Not saying Nissan isn't in tough straits, or even that Nissan might go bust in the next year. But that is not new or news. Just more embellished headlines from a legacy print newspaper trying desperately to stay relevant.

Hey, somebody get Stellantis' (new) CEO's phone number. Maybe they can get together and form the automotive equivalent of the Justice League of fading and struggling car brands.

:)
Oh, kinda like that spin-off of Gas Monkey where you get all the fat, lazy and retarded "mechanics" and make a reality show of whining and stupidity

Yep, rather than use the pandemic windfall to improve their long term viability they squandered it. They somehow thought they were awesome and it would last forever. Not just Nissan, and not just car companies.
Yes, and to think that any company is infallible, bulletproof, has no competition, and will be around forever is just plain stupid.

Latest news that I heard is that they have about 10 months of cash left at current consumption rate. I would also think that Renault and Mitsu will not be far behind if this indeed truly happens. There is way too much capacity in the industry for many of the "me too" brands to survive IMHO.
