Does anyone know what the approximate pressure is for those public car washes. I'm thinking about buying an electric pressure washer form wal mart and it is 1500psi.

I don't think that they are good for your car. High pressure just gets water into the locks and doors and can be hard on paint. I cut my hand open with a wand at a car wash by accident! The water acted just like a knife and that kind of pressure can not be good for your car of truck. I just use my garden hose, my car will never see the inside of a car wash again.

in the winter i will run my car through a touchless, then go home and fire up the heater in the garage and apply a coat of spray wax or quick detailing spray.

i just like to keep all the salt and goo off my car until i can "hand job" it in the spring.

Something I've figured out...

Pressure washers (hundreds and hundreds of dollars) don't clean your car as well as a $10 hand mit...

You read my mind. I DON'T want it to spray my car off expecting that's all it's needed. I want it to knock off the dirt/grit off first BEFORE doing my "hand job."

One more thing....I am NOT interested in the touchless or automatic car washers. I was asking for the PSI rating on those pressure washers that you go to and wash your car by hand with a pressure hose.
Frank, 2800 PSI is scary and could easily take the badging and trim off the body.
