I have an old and sturdy 12V compressor, but since I got into the Ridgid system, and got tired of dragging a cord around for periodic pressure checks, I picked up one of these inflators.
It has worked well for the intended usage, but even though it has a decent CFM, given its five minute duty cycle, I wouldn't rely on it to inflate flat, or large volume tires, and also keep in mind $79 is the full retail price. It often goes on sale for about $20 off, and can be had in the $30 range when the right sale and free shipping promos pop up at DTO.
I have a 12V corded inflator in every vehicle and I have a USB rechargeable compact inflator that I use for adjusting tire pressure. I set the desired pressure and the inflator will automatically shut off when the target pressure is reached. I also have a twin-cylinder foot pump that I may take along on longer trips since it's more reliable.
My vote too but you can fill it at many service stations (free at Wawa in my area) so you don't have to have a home compressor. But for a car, you might just want to get a can of Fix-a-Flat and keep one in the trunk. That's probably the quickest and easiest way to get something.
But if she smacked a curb then chances are good that the tire is damaged and/or off the rim so you'll probably need a spare tire and wheel and not just some air.
