Canging ignition coil as a preventive maintenance?

I usually like to do a little further diagnosis than "miss on #6 = new coil." I will usually pull it and swap the coil with a different cylinder then clear codes. If the miss goes to the other cylinder, its the pack, if not, better start deeper tests..

180000 miles?? I would replace all the coils. Once my lincoln hits 100K I am replacing all 8 coils.

My luck i replace something that isnt broke....it still brakes anyway.

Good point. On my inline 6 when a coil failed, that's exactly what I did. I swapped 4 & 5 and the misfire code moved cylinders. New coil for $85 and I was done.
