Can USCAR-36 affect warranty?

Reading in my owner's manual for the Ram 6.4, it states only to use Mopar or USCAR-36 filters. I am not concerned about the spec itself, seems pretty basic. I was thinking of running a PG filter, possibly Microgard Select. I have heard that PG won't answer the question if their products meet it or not. Anybody have any insight into this?

Not worried about the spec itself, just don't want any excuses for warranty issues *if* they were to arise. I'm not opposed to running the Mopar filter, but do like the PG product line.

Highly doubt it, and almost no filter maker even touts that their filter meets USCAR-36 ... it's a "Big 3" US car maker thing, they worked together and came up with the USCAR-36 specs. You can use whatever aftermarket oil filter (or any other parts) you want, but if it's proven the aftermarket part causes a failure then it might not be covered by the factory warranty. Car dealerships try to use that excuse all the time, but they legally have to prove the aftermarket part was the root cause of the failure.

Thank you, that what I was thinking/hoping. I hadn't come across that verbiage before. At least they loosened up the oil spec; used to be only Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0w40, but now any API approved 0w40 is acceptable.

What it actually says:

Meet or exceed.

from farther research it seems most of the premium lines claim to meet or exceed uscar-36.. just don't use a fram orange can? (joke)

I wouldn't be to concerned, there are many work trucks driving around with fleet type filters from a multipack everyday without issues. Probably seeing high idle time and lots of towing or snow plowing hours on them.
