Is there any reason that I SHOULD NOT use a 5W40 high-end Audi spec oil in my 2005 Ram 1500 4.7, which calls for 5W30?

I have quite a few one-gallon bottles left on hand of Motul Fully Synthetic Engine Motor Oil 8100 X-CESS 5W40

If it is good for Audi...?

THANKS!

Ben

I would use it up

We have the 3.7L V6 in our 2005 Jeep GC. It is virtually the same engine as your but yours has 2 more cylinders. I have put many different brands in mine and most recently used up some oils to complete a change.
  • 2 quarts of Citgo 5w30 FS HM
  • 2 quarts of F&F 5w40 HDEO
  • 1 quart of Super Tech FS HM 5w30
It will go over 5K on this mixture of oil. These engines aren't fussy on oil.

Just my $0.02

Thank-you.

I saw a video on Projecxt Farm, where they mixed all types of oil and did a test after 43,500 milesand everything was perfect!

Will Mixing 10 Motor Oils Damage an Engine? Let's find out!
