Since most auto manufacturers specify a timing belt change based on time (in addition to mileage) this implies that age affects product integrity, as with tires. Even if you have only 10,000 miles on the belt, but have hit the time limit of 9 years (for example), you are supposed to change the belt. So shouldn't the new replacement belts have a manufacturing date on them, to avoid installing an aged belt?

Ehhhh yea

My car is 5 years or 60,000 miles. That reminds me coming up on a change soon.

The Conti belts I use outlast the specced 4 yrs/60,000 by a good margin, This summer I replaced a belt that had been in 7 yrs and 75,000 miles. I don't know if the belts are dated. I will look next time. Hoses are dated. Belts changed closer to the spec look almost new. This one was showing age, but was intact
