Camissa tests the Cybertruck

This is an infomercial, not a test or review.

Thanks GON for letting us know. I'll wait until I can watch a video about the Cybertruck featuring a host who can offer the facts and the real world ownership experience.
@macarose , great point. Are we we watching to inform , or to influence. Huge difference. This video is to influence. Learned about the vehicle, which prior all.i new was it was a EV and a stainless steel body.

This, as noted by others, came across more as a puff piece than an actual test of the vehicle. However, within the miasma of marketing, there was some worthwhile information about the design and engineering of the truck. There seems to be some good and interesting engineering beneath that stainless steel skin.

I think it was great and pretty informative as I never paid any attention to Tesla news but we all know the Cybertruck is still a one-off designer vehicle. Just like the Lamborghini that was featured or the DMC12.

I like Matt and I also like Jason. 2 diff shows completely.

This is certainly an interesting thing, although it's technically a truck, I'm not sure it is in reality but more something entirely new, risky and different.

Calling it, a truck does not make it a typical truck like the hummer.
Comparisons are not valid. If I wanted a truck in electric vehicle form, I would gladly take the hummer.
If I wanted a showpiece, something unique and different let’s call it a sports truck then I would take the cyber truck

I expect it to sell and sell well. It’s an expensive, attention getting unique vehicle that no one has, and many people can afford.

Sounds a lot like the Raptor and TRX owners around my parts. It may have a gasoline engine, it may look like a truck but it is far from being an actual useful truck. No one is carrying their tools off a lifted truck on the jobsite. That is if the thing would even be allowed to get dirty.

Plenty of big lift big tire trucks being used for work here. I think when they get to the 2nd or 3rd owner some do hard work.

As far as the video being an infomercial, it's his style. He tests new and old interesting cars. Produced by Hagerty along with lots of other serial car-centric YouTube channels with eccentric or annoying hosts. Thinking about Magnus Walker for one.

Honestly as a truck I think Rivian is better. Why compare it against Hummer EV so much when the real competition is Rivian instead? On the Cd number, I think I get it but I don't get it. It is meaningful if you know the front surface size and comparing it against McLaren (or motorcycle, or a car, or a Hummer) is really not useful. I would personally only compare Cd to a similar size vehicle and ideally the same one before and after some design change.

The rest of the info... cool to know but in the end it is all about the miles per kwh, cost, towing capacity, cargo capacity, coolness factor, durability, etc. Not a bad truck for people wanting it, I think if I must buy an EV truck I would pick Rivian instead.

It’s growing on me. Not as a truck. Just a silly shaped engineering marvel.
I agree, it is an engineering feat but not realistic in the real world. I personally think it looks better than the Rivian but the Rivian is a functional truck compared to the Cyber which is a toy.

Realistic for what though?

It’s silly in the front. Too flat. It’s shaped like a triangle or diamond.

But so what?

Folks that drive their full size pickup to commute or to the supermarket is also not realistic in the real world.

Reality is it’s more akin to a little SUV or some little wagon or something.

Or take my 1998 S-10 ZR2 single cab short bed. Love it. Owned it since new. Will probably keep it forever. But utility of a small, single cab, short bed is also prettty low, even though I’ve used mine for all sorts of hauling.

So…. As a runabout I bet it’s not bad, if you can get past the funky look.

Even if they do and the end of the day it is still a full size, capable truck even if they choose not to use it as such. I guess my point is I can the limitations stacking up compared to more "mainstream" vehicles. It being electric isn't an issue in my book and they call it a "truck" so there is an expectation.

Actually, I disagree a short bed truck is just as useful as a longer bed truck as long as you are aware of the limitations. My bed is only 5'2" and it is still useful for any and every I would do with a 6' bed. I just have to be more careful securing cargo. Can I tow 10,000lbs? Well no but if my intention was that I wouldn't have bought this truck anyway.
