Calumet To Sell Assets Related To Industrial Portion Of Royal Purple Business

This whole knock on Royal purple is laughable at best. Their big box oil is no worse than anything else and priced almost the same outside of supertech, which many here will scream from the rooftops how great it is. Meanwhile Walmarts fuel and lube philosophy is “lowest bidder”, yet everyone seems just fine with that! Their HPS and XPR line up is as good as any other top tier oils and priced better. This whole rip is getting downright ridiculous! My nephews a bridge builder and they worked with a royal purple rep and cut rebuilds down by 3 on heavy equipment. If you don’t like the color purple I get it but don’t talk out of your rear about unsubstantiated claims. I don’t like HPL charging a kings ransom for oil they won’t spend money on to at least get the starburst symbol for. I still use it but don’t agree with that side of it.

Do you have proof?

Uhm ... yes, ... Sir?
Do you have proof to back up the crazy slamming fest you went on? Last time I checked, dexos approved is dexos approved, and their big box store lube is dexos approved. No more no less than Mobil 1, valvoline or the board favorite…super tech. Yet you make royal purple out to be purple colored sludge water. There’s lots of practices I’m not a fan of but I’m not going to attach myself to outlandish, unsubstantiated claims out of some sort of personal vendetta. Show me Royal purple blew your engine or failed your trans axle. Until then your just some poster screaming from the rooftops. They make a quality product with millions of miles of testimony to prove it. Am I going to buy their water wetter or convert the blood of my car over to royal purple….nope. But I’ll run their oil or gear lubes and not look to a chat room for things that don’t exist. Cause they don’t!

How much more can Royal Purple cheapen their products? They’re already utter crud. I’m sure the last five to ten people still using their motor oil don’t care—they’ll keep buying it as long as it’s... purple. They haven’t made a decent ATF since Dex III was a thing, and their gear oil is the absolute worst. Just take a quick look around the Jeep Wrangler forums if you need a good laugh. I don’t want to talk bad about them, but their products do all the trash-talking for me—and not in a good way.
Wait, RP gear oil is bad because Jeep Wrangler forums say so? I wonder if the 4Runner forums have the same problem.

Dexos is a license you pay for, not an approval.

Now, I specifically asked if you had proof that Royal Purple "HPS and XPR line up is as good as any other top tier oils and priced better". That's what I asked about, please don't twist my words.

Are you actually using Royal Purple gear oil in anything?

I bought couple bottles for my Toyotas and plan on using some this summer. I could not locally find the recommended 75w85, RP was on sale.
AMSOIL and Red Line Oil both make 75W-85 gear oil.

Motul Gear 300 is an excellent product, and if you need the best gear oil without limited slip additive, not much beats Delvac 1. You have plenty of choice, and a Toyota is not a cheap vehicle. The only thing I regret is that I didn't buy a Tundra back when they were still making them with the V8. Toyota makes phenomenal cars, very reliable. I hope they overcome the current hickup with their turbo engine in the Tundra. All in all, it would be a shame to use Royal Purple in such awesome vehicles.
