Here's the problem.

The entire country is 'burning', in one way or another. And those who have the power to do something about it, simply refuse to.

Not only do we have our own wild fires in Utah, but we are also getting the smoke from California. Makes for pretty sunsrises and sunsets.

So true.

There is lots of theories about the fires drought, Geo engineering, changing the weather patterns to how the government manages the wild lands. Think about this there have always been lightening and 150 + years ago who put out the fires? when did the fires decide to burn out? I wonder what the forests looked like way back when. If no one saw a forest fire would any one care? The forests grow back instantly in earths time and surprisingly quick in people time. So What can be called old growth forests on Earths time. 2008 Calif burned maybe worst than this fire season ,Where I live there are lot of Cal fire people they seem to be always busy during fire season. I really hate fires, depending on the wind we have had many smokey days .

What's scary about these fires is the heat. In the San Diego area a few years ago we were watching the flames moving over this hill. Waves of heat were preceding the flames and the trees would turn grey for about 2 seconds and then just disappear. The asphalt driveway off the main highway disappeared as well.

Maybe past firefighting efforts have been too aggressive and there's been a lot of fuel left for future fires.

The reason.

So far several hundreds houses/buildings had been destroyed by various wild fires. But we may have some rain/drizzle tomorrow so it may help firefighters a little.

Of all the public servers I appreciate these people the most: uniformed and firefighter.

Too bad you guys didn't get tonight's storm here in Phoenix. Flooded part of my grandma's house and completely uprooted a very big tree.

Monsoon is usually move from SW to NE bypass most So Cal to Arizona, only tiny part of South East CA gets some moisture, but we may have some drizzle tomorrow.

In the past controlled burning of areas by the Forestry Service was the norm to burn away undergrowth and dry brush, but various guvment agencies said that contributed to more air pollution.

And county and municipal zoning agencies still allow seven figure and up homes to be built in forested areas once off limits.

So, stupidity by Government agencies creating more pollution in one gigantic fire is acceptable, but a small amount of air pollution from working to remove the fuel load before it burns the entire country is not allowable. Over the past 20 years the government and idiots have pushed the rancher out of grazing these fores areas and therefore naturally removing a lot of the fuel load. Ranchers also helped out by doing controlled burns. Just another failure due to centralized government control.

They didn't have fires 150 years ago. Haven't you seen the news? This is due to climate change. 150 years ago CA was a lush rain forest and never saw a fire. The government needs to do something about this...

I fought bush fires in my early 20s when I lived in BC. We'd start small patches and do a controlled burn when the environmental brainiacs would go into various areas and inspect.
Those small fires prevent huge ones. And when lightning would start a fire depending on where it was we'd just let them burn but create a line where the fire would stop consuming more area.
As already mentioned man has created the conditions for these wildfires to burn out of control. Putting them out just creates another potential fire later on down the road.
Nature is a wonderful, beautiful and violent thing. What's funny is mans belief he can force his will upon it,and as history proves that only lasts a short time before ma nature makes control unlikely or impossible.
When you build communities in fire prone areas I suggest building something very cheap and don't get too attached.

These fires are nature at work. Totally natural occurrences. The problem? People have built thousands of houses in the areas where they occur.
