Cabin filters HEPA

I think I might just go with one of the noncarbon ones as Id rather have more airflow and I can live with the bad smells from a dead skunk or something for 30 seconds

Carbon won't affect airflow but I believe it it doesn't last that long.

I tried a HEPA cabin air filter from Bosch off RO, since I thought it would help clear the cabin air even further during allergy season. Could not get past the smell of the thing! It came with a strange chemical odor that came through the vents whenever I used the HVAC in the car. I thought maybe after a couple of days it would air out, but no luck, ended up tossing it and replacing it with the OTS one from the local car parts haus....

Out of those, get the Wix XP

Avoid the HEPA filters unless you or someone who regularly drives or rides in the car has severe allergies. The HEPA does what it says it does, but at the cost of severe reduction in airflow. Amazon is full of negative reviews on them.

Your car isn't hermetically sealed and most cabin filters fit loosely in the air duct. It is there to catch the big chunks of dirt. The finer the filter media the more air will find a way around the filter.

Go with the cheapest, regular filter. This retains maximum airflow, saves your blower motor, prevents the condensor from icing up due to less airflow all of which equals better ac performance. You are not in a sealed chamber in a car and no amount of hepa filter is going to make the car a clean air environment. The basic filter catches enough and gives the flow you need.
