I needed to pick-up a cabin air filter for an '06 Corolla yesterday, so I dropped by the local Kragen.

They were out of the Bosch ones, but the rep told me that they had an "AirQualitee" branded one available. So I bought that instead, as it was only $12.

I just noticed that the AirQualitee one feels very cheap. Plus, I only counted 30 pleats.

I looked at some of the Genuine Toyota and NAPA/Wix ones online. I counted at least 40 pleats on those filters, and the media looked much "better."

Should I be concerned? Do the number of pleats really matter?

Thanks.

Less pleats equals less filter media, that's all. That just means it won't filter for as long as one with more pleats.

I bought cabin filters online for about $4 a piece, they were almost identical to the Toyota ones I replaced.

I wonder how the car driving public lasted before cabin air filters were the norm? I think about things like that.

...and what was your conclusion or is the jury still out?

I just bought two each for the wife's RX 350 and the son's Civic.
Both were around $6.75 ea from logical-source.com.
The Lexus version was of great quality.
The Civic's version was a lesser quality but much thinner.Could be the same as OEM.
All in all,I'd buy again from them.
Didn't see a listing for my Tacoma,though.
