Cabin filters vary considerably in price in part because some are like a cheap furnace filters, some have an active charcoal coating and some have a very fine pore size (HEPA). Add to this is the dealer level of greed. I did discover that my Mazda dealer had their cabin filter price within a few cents of a WIX so good for Mazda. ~ $17.50 and it fit perfectly.

On the Altima it is a big PITA. I have done it on two 07-12 Altimas so far and I don't think I want to do that job again.

dont remind me had to change the cabin filter on my Murano im still mad

I changed the CAF in my Tribute a few months ago, and it would have been the first time it has been done in a while, it was crooked in the holder, and packed with dirt.

Paid $24 for a Charcoal-activated Fram CAF, and popped it in fairly easily. For simplicity, I will most likely change it once a year in the spring. Not too bad.....

$85 may not be a bad price. On some Nissan models (like the Rogue) the gas/brake pedal assembly must be removed to get at the filter. One has to wonder what the engineers were thinking about when they designed this!

Probably how to get an extra $85 out of an unsuspecting owner every year.
