I wouldn't get too excited about BYD since they are having supply issues and with their oil supply being cut off with the debacle in the middle East.

Also, China relied heavily on selling EV's to the US and with public demand not being what they expected and GOV subsidies drying up,
they have thousands of EV's parked with no where to go.

They will be selling in to Canada. That's a big step. That's a baby step to eventually sell in the U.S.

Well that's one I wouldn't charge in my neighbor's driveway!

It's for public charging during road trips. Not for use at home. At home you just charge overnight. Wake up with a full charge each morning.

One benefit of faster chargers is that the power can be split between multiple vehicles. For example, a megawatt charger can service four vehicles with 250 kW of power. Even if those vehicles can charge over 250 kW, they'll just max out that charger much deeper into the pack. So even vehicles that don't necessarily use the full capability of the chargers can benefit from increased charger availability now that power is split. This is basically what Alpitronic is doing with its 400 kW chargers. It also has an 1000kW version coming. Now maybe you don't need as many chargers on each site because a single one is servicing more vehicles. So you can deploy at more locations and still have the same number of plugs.

I hope to hear updates from you as well as pricing. When speaking of pricing, also if those prices are real full prices without government rebates. This will give an idea of the true market. I suspect you won't see super cheap EVs in the price range you mentioned but maybe not too much higher as they break into a new market.

I didn't remember they had a plant there, but they do, so we probably won't see any cheap EV's for a while yet.

Tesla was already shipping EVs from China to the US and other countries, so the vehicles are already in compliance with Canadian rules. All they have to do is load up a boat.

Funny thing is Tesla buy batteries from BYD for some models. MB, Toyota, Ford and others are also buying BYD batteries. Their blade battery has proven to be safer and better than anything that is currently on the market and the nice part is if one blade fails the whole pack does not need to be replaced or cells clipped and neutered just the individual blade swapped out.
Anyone underestimating China's manufacturing prowess is doing so at their own peril. I am glad I bought stock in BYD car and BYD batteries, it is up a good bit since buying it and when the US market inevitably opens that ship will come in big time.

I don't think that's true. The cars sold in America are built in Fremont and Tesla. The may be some parts.

Some of the Canadian sold models are Chinese made, but not in the US.

I misspoke. The batteries were sourced from China, but the completed vehicles were shipped to the EU. I think Tesla was going to import them, but U.S.-Chinese tariffs took effect.

China has for a long time had a prohibitive tariff on importing completed cars from anywhere, and the USA reciprocated. Tesla's factory in China is mostly to make cars to sell there. They could not be sent to the USA.

I think there has been exactly one ship fire caused by a faulty electric car in the cargo. They have thousands of brand-new cars in one place and "infant mortality" failure is a thing.
