LOL, that is the greatest! Give him a reward for admitting guilt. I wish there was similar way to judge our politicians with such definitive evidence of wrong doing.......LOL
Had a critter like this wander into my yard with a plastic collar too. When I relieved him of his necklace, the ungrateful little b*stard anointed me.

We keep our trash can under the counter behind a cabinet door with child proof locks on the doors.
Mice like to get in there then the cat want's top get in there
All vegetal waste goes right into the outdoor compost or indoor worm bin.

It wasn't tight and he wasn't in any distress. It's a waste can in a bathroom that only ever has tissues in it. I guess he took a peek then went back to his observation post by the front door. We didn't notice until he wandered into the kitchen hoping to find something. He's 12 so he doesn't get too worked up.
The "guilty face" is gold!!
