At 1100 km I switched out the factory oil in my 05 5 speed Pontiac Vibe (1ZZ Toyota 4 cyl engine); in went 3.7 litres of Mobil 1 5w30. In the meantime my kids had bought me some more Mobil 1 5w30 for Father's Day...if in doubt buy Dad oil

. But with all the great info I had read on theoildrop re 0w30 I secretly ordered a couple of cases of Esso XD3 0w30 (I have the Vibe and a 2000 Montana). Well I couldnt take it any longer. So just 2000 km after the first change I did another

. I promise to keep this oil in till late fall...just in time for winter so as to switch over to the 0W-30. I did collect a sample of oil from this most recent change. With only 2000 km on this oil and 3300 km on the car in total is it worthwhile getting it analyzed?

I put the oil in a white plastic aspirin bottle. It was very hot. Do you think that such a container could withstand the heat of hot oil? Just wondering if the inside would melt enough to contaminate the sample.

You're wasting the M1!!!

Just use the M1 in warmer months, or send it to me!

I don't think it's worth getting analyzed. The only thing it might tell you is if you have a major engine problem unrelated to the oil you're using.
I think the container is OK.
