At 1100 km I switched out the factory oil in my 05 5 speed Pontiac Vibe (1ZZ Toyota 4 cyl engine); in went 3.7 litres of Mobil 1 5w30. In the meantime my kids had bought me some more Mobil 1 5w30 for Father's Day...if in doubt buy Dad oil
. But with all the great info I had read on theoildrop re 0w30 I secretly ordered a couple of cases of Esso XD3 0w30 (I have the Vibe and a 2000 Montana). Well I couldnt take it any longer. So just 2000 km after the first change I did another
trying to get rid of that Mobil 1
. I promise to keep this oil in till late fall...just in time for winter so as to switch over to the 0W-30. I did collect a sample of oil from this most recent change. With only 2000 km on this oil and 3300 km on the car in total is it worthwhile getting it analyzed?
I put the oil in a white plastic aspirin bottle. It was very hot. Do you think that such a container could withstand the heat of hot oil? Just wondering if the inside would melt enough to contaminate the sample.
