Keep in mind that all brake fluid is full synthetic. There is no natural brake fluid (excluding some tractors that use mineral hydraulic oil).

DOT3, DOT4, etc. are performance standards, not chemical recipes. The chemical difference to raise the performance might be harmful to the elastomers in some systems, but I haven't seen it. Valvoline might be using a slightly different chemical mix so it can't harm DOT3 systems, or maybe their DOT3/DOT4 label is just marketing.

Wow, thread took a turn there didn't it? FWIW, always check a service guide for your particular vehicle. But, generally speaking, the caliper located farther away gets bled first, then progressively move closer. Valvoline DOT3,4 , or Castrol LMA is fine fluid. I've used Prestone fluids also. No performance difference as far as I can tell in a stock braking application. I prefer ATE fluids personally, because the brake fluid comes in two colors, clear/gold, and blue. I alternate between the 2 so I can see the color change at the caliper for a visual.
