So today on my daily stop at buccees I talked to the tanker driver and he said they actually put b20 in the tanks at buccees. I always thought it was a range of anywhere between b5 and b20. Guess I can fill up with 5 or 6 gallons of b20, then fill up somewhere else cheaper with regular diesel ansmd that would probably give me my 2 percent or whatever is needed to have enough lubricity in the fuel. The driver even said they fill the truck up at buccees too. Lol

I don't know how the truck driver would know what level of biodiesel they have. The amount can be from B5 to B20 as you suggested. They blend the fuel at the mixing station and dump it in. That said if your vehicle is able to handle B20 the only issue is going to be reduced mileage and the same price or more for the Biodiesel fuel.

They're supposed to know what they're hauling.

The driver selects what product they are putting in the truck. The terminal/state makes sure the product they select is what they select. If the terminal only does splash blending then it is up to the driver to put the correct amounts into the tank. The only thing that might make it vary is if there is bio added somewhere upstream of the terminal. I am not sure how that affects the final bio percentage.

I don't know if it is just Iowa or all over but some bio incentives or something went away recently so bio amounts may change. I am too lazy to look it up.
