7 days from now I will have officially earned my BA in Electronics Engineering. Wondering how those of you (which i'm sure is most) felt the day when you finally earned your college degree? What was your plan moving forward?

This.

Everyone and their grandmother has a bachelors degree these days. Experience, credentials, certifications, and/or more degrees are needed to set you apart.

I have a [censored] in electrical engineering, focus on electronics. Been a while since I graduated. I recall not marching, as I figured I'd march when I got an advanced degree. I was much more focused on getting a job, and getting done with school (let's face it, it had been almost 20 years by then). Unfortunately I met with the dot com burst, so it was several months.

Rant: I was really peeved when BAE accepted me into their masters program--like a week after I accepted my job. That's what happens when it takes 3 months to make a decision...

At some point I need to start in on a masters. Again. I started it but was a bit overwhelmed by career and family. With family becoming less "needy" of my time I could. But never again in summer!

DeVry? Congrats! It's a great feeling indeed. I graduated with a BSEET from DeVry KC in Feb of '93. I had no desire to ever go back for a Masters, and I probably wouldn't be making any more $ if I had. I got married 2 months after graduation, and then moved states and started my career in June. It was a stressful year.

YEA!!! Congratulations....! i got an electronics tech degree at the age of 55. and cause of it, i have a a TON of respect for some one with an electronics engineering degree. keep up the good work. go and invent something to make a million.

Congratulations. You have an incredible amount of opportunity ahead of you-make the most of it and you'll never regret it. If you do what you love then you'll never work a day in your life.

I well remember the day I received my first degree from Drake. 1966, middle of the Vietnam War, the Gateway Arch had just been finished and dedicated, and NASA was still working on the Gemini program (Gemini 9 was launched a few days after graduation). It was an incredible time to be young.

I was the first in my family to receive a degree-my dad was actually not all that pleased. He followed in his fathers' footsteps and I was expected to do the same. While I love living in a rural setting, farming for a living wouldn't suit me.

I didn't know then that I would end up in business for myself. I also had no idea where the technology of the day would lead us in just a few short years. I followed my heart, and combined with a little luck it's served me well.

Thank you everyone! It makes me feel good to see that I share the same goals as a few of you. I was stupid and waited 6 years after HS to go back to school (yes...DeVry), but now I don't want to stop. Looking to continue on, but that will wait until I find a job, possibly one with tuition reimbursement. Got an interview with a solid company tomorrow. Hope all goes well. Thanks again guys!

Good luck. DeVry used to have a good placement program. Back when I graduated KC, there weren't many tech jobs around here. It's a lot better now.
