Brush cutter purchase

Thats why I was afraid to buy any of the echo 225 power heads. went right for the 2620
I've run a 225 and a 230 powerhead on my split shaft with brushcutter blade, yeah that's a good call to go with the 2620. Nice power bump. An edger/brushcutter pretty much taps out my 230.

Looking for some advice/opinions on getting a brushcutter. I am essentially narrowed into Husqvarna, Stihl and maybe Echo. These are what dealers I have available locally.

Looking for something with bike handles, heavy duty enough to run some sort of saw blade but can run string line as well.

We have a couple miles of fence line that has to be maintained from grass, weeds, brush and saplings. Will see some 1" maybe larger.

I prefer 2 stroke for weight and simplicity. Eyeballing the Husky 336FR, and Stihl FS 131. Although I think the Stihl uses that 4 mix.

Anyways, just looking for some guidance, thanks.

Yeah if I could only have one, I'd pick that 2620. I have the 225 and the 266, both bought used for pretty cheap.
I have the 2620 with the saw blade head and the 400 string head. I have had it one year. Its fantastic. For what describe , i would not go smaller than the 2620. They also make a 2620T that has some gear reduction for more torque.

After doing my research I went with Echo and haven't regretted it. I cut around a 2 acre pond with string and clear saplings from around deer hunting areas with a blade attached. Its unbelievable how quick you can clear small trees (under 3-4in) with the blade attachment. I've had no issues with it. My only gripe is it takes a couple min to swap between blade and string because you have to swap guards.

These are the blades you want. Skip the ones from the dealer: (make sure you pick the ones sold by Kurt Saw Blades. Pretty sure the cheaper ones are fakes)

You'll also want a nicer harness and I have been happy with this one:

What a beast that thing must be. 💪

Stay away from Husqvarna they're going over to battery powered for their smaller stuff 2 stroke stuff.
I say get a 2 stroke that isn't a Husqvarna and run 40:1 premium FD rated 2 stroke like echo red armor.
Also Echo starts easier.

The blade on that attachment, if what you actually used, has quite poor performance. I have a chain saw style OEM Echo blade on my SRM 230, and it can handle 1.5 inch brush no problem. Has to be sharp though, or it'll bog down. More CC's is always better for this application.

Yes, I went out and looked and it was the OEM Echo blade that I struggled with. Still hanging on the wall.

I did purchase an aftermarket chain saw blade and tried that too. I don't remember that being any better with the 21cc power head. I'll have to look for that one.

I converted that PAS attachment to a string trimmer with the newer style Echo head. Works great, but no string cutter.

Yeah definitely have to wind up the 21.2 ccs to get it to work. This is the blade I use. Full width chainsaw type may be too much kerf for the underpowered machine. 99944200131 Echo 8" Steel Brushcutter Blade 20 mm Bore 22 Tooth Fits SRM-210 SRM-225 SRM-230 SRM-260 SRM-265 SRM-280 SRM-311 SRM-340 SRM-400 SRM-410 Trimmers https://a.co/d/eaABgC5

Any of the echo 25.4 cc equipment is great. I dont know how they get the power out of that small displacement but it seems to be the perfect size. Not to big or too small. Just right.

If I looked at a Echo it would be this model only. SRM 410U
That is certainly powerful, but it weighs almost 20 lbs. Not really something you want to be lugging around all day. The 3020 is probably the largest I'd go unless you are a power lifter or football player, since it is 5 less lbs.

No different than a guy asking what chainsaw I need. I wouldn't recommend a 40cc saw when the job requires a 80cc saw sometimes you just have to man up.

Lol "manning up" has nothing to do with it. I own several chain saws for that reason. The Jonsered 72cc saw with the 32" bar is great for big trees, but running it all day when it isn't needed for smaller stuff would be stupid. Right tool for the job, work smarter not harder.
