Brick Shower Soap vs Body Wash

My roommmates think its odd that I don't use body wash, I use brick soap.
I don't know why?
I used to use body wash pre-military, I used old spice, after I joined with Training, we were only allowed Brick Soap and not Body Wash, I have just stuck with it since.
Occasionally ill buy a "fancy" brick of Duke Cannon brand or pure castile soap,
Most of the time though its SafeGuard Antibacterial or Irish Spring. Right guard got too expensive for my taste.

Anyone?
As I get older, I have also went from Old Spice to Degree to arrid cream to now Arm & Hammer. People find that awkward at the store when I'm checking out.
80 year old clerk lady at walgreens wants to take me home everytime I buy brylcreem or Clubman Aftershave.

I used to use body wash till they started putting lotion [censored] in everything and made the scent real strong. I like getting out of the shower and feeling clean not oily and smelly.

Bar soap is cheap and works good if you have good water. Bar soap doesn't work so good with hard water.

Body washes never left me feeling clean, and had way to much scent. I stick with bar soap. Buying the big packs at sams club will last a year for next to nothing in cost.

I use zest bar soap. Coconut scent i think. Ive used dove body wash before and while you could smell me a mile away with it i didnt feel clean to the touch so went back to my trusty zest

Bars are definitely cheaper and smell just as good IMO.

My BITOG inner self came out one day when the local Kroger had various name brand body wash's on clearance for $1 each and bought what they had (18?). I haven't bought soap for a little over a year.

I'm the same, everyone my age uses body wash. I don't feel as clean after using it, I've used many. I buy white bar Dove by the 8 pack. It's my favorite soap. I get why body wash caught on, in college the packaging offered a big advantage. Easily portable, you could tell if someone was using it if the bottle was clear, more scents, much better marketing.

I don't stick to using any particular soap. I'm using white Dial bar soap at the moment which I bought. If I'm with my wife and buying soap, she will sniff out the one she likes and I don't argue.
At the moment, my wife is using Caress sheer twilight body wash and it smells pretty good. But I think body washes can be sorta like perfumes which some you can smell a mile away, so choose wisely.

I'm another one that doesn't like the body wash. I feel I get more for my money with the bar soap. During the summer it's Old Spice original and during the winter it's Dove Men Care. Gotta have some moisturizers during those dry months.

I guess I'm old fashioned. I use Ivory. Body washes are usually loaded with chemicals such as Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. Many of those chemicals are alkalotic and pH balanced with some nasty acids. Just read the back label on some of those body wash bottles.

I don't like liquid body washes either. Like others have said,it doesn't seem to get you clean,smells way to "cheap cologney",and seems like you can't wash it all the way off,as if you leave the shower still covered in soap. My current fave is Paul Mitchell Tea Tree soap. I always buy the generic version at Sally. Probably the best soap I've ever used.

I just use plain 'ol Ivory, seems to work fine even though we're on a well and I doubt our water is particularly soft.
I have used body washes now and again and they're OK...but, if I drop my bar soap, I can just pick it up again. Not so much if the body wash rinses off my hand by accident.

Came here hoping to find out what a brick of soap was, disappointed you just mean bar. I hated using bar soap in basic training as it would turn into a goopy mess in the soap holder. Now however I use a bar of soap for everything, hair and body. I try not to get the antibacterial kind though. No need to be constantly dosed with Triclosan.
