I wondered what I was missing.
I'm not surprised an ex-fighter pilot could land a different aircraft with assistance of an ATC specialist. I'd be more surprised if he couldn't.
Lots of time to talk, get used to the controls, etc.
So I wouldn't describe it as a miracle landing, unusual yes, a miracle no.

Fantastic Movie....
Most Don't know it was largely based on a movie from 1957, called Zero hour. they used the original's screenplay as much as possible.
