Brake Rotors?

I am going through my truck and replacing the basics. Shocks, LIM/ valve cover gaskets eventually, brake components, fluids etc. It's been a fun tinker toy.. Very very easy thing to work on.

My rotors appear original and need replaced. The truck has front disk and rear drums and is 4WD. The rotors the parts stores sell are either for trucks equipped with 4WD and rear disk or 4WD and rear drum brakes. Both rotors have different part numbers. They also have a RWD option that is a completely different design with an integrated hub.

Rock Auto for the most part has the same philosophy, but many of their rotors, their AC Delco Professional line included, just say "Front 4WD" in their description.

Is it just me or is this not very specific? Clearly, they made 4WD's with both styles of brakes.

It probably has something to do with the size of the rotors, there may be one that is most common and that's the one that company listed. No idea really, sometimes parts catalogs are just screwy.

If the specifics of your application are not crystal clear you can do one of the following:
1) Order from RockAuto (as you seem to want to do) but try to contact them first if such a communications route exists
Be ready to return them if the part is wrong. You'd probably buy locally if there was an error.

2) Look at other sites and see if you can zero in on your part. Order it from them or try to get the part number and order from RockAuto.

3) Pay the coupla $ and buy from a local store. They'd be earning their profit margin.

We have the technologies to deal with this.

My 98 S10 ZR2 has front and rear discs. IIRC, 97 to 98 is when they did a facelift and upgraded the brakes. Its reasonable that when they swapped from rear drums to discs (on the 4wd at least), they changed the size.

Choose #3. Easier to take them back if they don't fit correctly.
I got duralast gold rotors and ceramic pads from AutoZone with 20% off delivered. Also got a $20 rebate that was also a special going on.
Did it in 3 orders since special was based on $100 orders. (3rd order I used the $40 worth of rebates.)
Turned out I didn't need the front rotors and took them back to the store.
When it was all said and done, I had rear rotors with 3 year warranty and front and back ceramic pads with lifetime warranty all for a little over a $100.

Quite possibly. It's just frustrating because they (Rock Auto) have a decent price on AC Delco's , but it just says "4WD" in the description.. Oh well.

Btw, I prefer the face lifted Blazer/ S10's. My brother has a 1998 and my only other complaint is that the shift lever is on the center console in mine, but at the steering wheel on his. That's a GM feature I've always liked for a truck. More center console space too. Oh well. I can't complain. The price was right and I bought it from her family friends. It's light silver and has the traditional 5 spoke blazer rims with very little rust. Not a bad vehicle really for racking miles on.
