Brake hose on the Lexus

I noticed one of my rubber brake hoses that attaches to the caliper looks like it is damp right at the metal/rubber crimp. I have never had one of these before. Anybody have this? I am doing new pads this weekend (55000 miles). Should I replace the hose now that it's 5000 miles out of warranty?

There is no aftermarket part yet. Dealer wants $87

if it is seeping, it prob is a good idea to change it. I'm not sure what kind of Lexus you have, but some of them have different bleeding procedures than other vehicles, but honestly if you are simply doing a hose, you should pretty much be able to replace that hose and let that caliper gravity bleed.

Called the dealer back & complained...they are replacing it under goodwill.

Yeah, The Service Manager called and apologized. He has a loaner car waiting if I can bring it in otherwise they will bring the loaner out to the house (25 miles) and take our car and return it when done. He said they will inspect the whole system and clean the car for the wife as well. The last time I had an issue with the RX they came and got it and then detailed the car and Lexus sent me a $50 Shell gas card with an apology letter.

Lexus know that news like this travels, and word of mouth is the best advertising.

What year is the RX? A little weeping is normal for this type of line. It is good to replace them though when they start to weep. I have seen Gm and Fords that where weeping while still on the lot.On the other hand My 1986 4Runner had 17 year old lines before I had to replace them due to cracking. The style of crimp used makes all the difference as does the material. GM and Fords problem was because of the supplier the problem was that GM and Ford where not willing to pay 1/2 a penny more to have a better style of crimp used so they just replaced them under warranty as needed. Even had problems on oil cooler lines for the same reason! So it does happen I think their wiliness to fix it right away and with out too much complaining makes the difference.
