I tryed Brad Penn 20-50 in my blue printed and balanced big block Ford. Broke it in on it and and refilled with it. The oil dirtied quickly, from green to black in a few hundered miles. It used it, a qt in less than 200 miles. The oil stunk bad in the cab of the truck every time I'd get on it. I run no pcv but have my breathers raised about 3". Now I was having a hard time believing that my new motor was in this condition, moly rings seat quickly so there was no reason for this. After I added the 3rd qt to it I decided to dump it, cut the filter open and there was not a micron of anything in it. So I bought Valvoline VR-1. Only problem they didn't have 20-50 but they did have straight 50. I decided summer is comming and I had set my bearings on the loose side, high volume pump too, so I figured I'd try it. Man what a difference ! No oil stink in the cab, over 1k miles on it now and hasn't used a drop and is clean as the day I put it in. So I hate to bash on a mfgr but sometimes it's necessary when the price of good oil is through the roof. If you were considering the Brad Penn, don't, go with the VR-1.
