I believe that there's a UOA from one member. There's also a member (his handle escapes me at the moment) that lives in Bradford, PA

All of their stuff is API rated

American Refining Group - aka BradPenn Oils

The Brad Penn oils are basically what Kendall would be now if the Kendall name hadn't been sold. These oils are made in the former Kendall refinery as noted above. I wouldn't hesitate to use Brad Penn if it were readily available in my area.

Wolf's Head was sold to Petroleum Packers in Tampa Florida. Brad Penn has nothing to do with Kendall except they refine crud at the old Bradford plant. A lot of people think Brad Penn is the old Kendall formula.... its not. Kendall hasn't been made in that plant sense 1993 so how could it be the same oil, there has been several API upgrades sense then.

Brad Penn is still making some of the older formulas that were sold under the Kendall name, i.e, the Premium Penn-Grade line is still SJ rated. And so is the Penn-Grade 1 line, which is the same thing as the old Kendall GT-1 (the green stuff). And for the newer stuff, as I said, this is what Kendall WOULD be if the name hadn't been sold. A lot of the same chemists and engineers that were formulating back then still work there.

How does Brad Penn compare with any other dino brand oil such as Pennzoil? I've seen it alot in small hardware stores in my area. Then again i only live about 40 miles of Bradford PA. Since it is alot cheaper then the name brands i would wonder how it rates in my crankcase compared with regular Pennzoil?

no Pennzoil is my "oil of choice". I have used it in everything I have ever driven even before discovering this website. I just want to know if BPoils are as goood as the other name brands?

My stepdad has been using this oil for years, his Chevy truck is at about 160k and my moms Chevy van around 210k. Seems to work fine.

Maybe I'll pick some up next time I'm "out west" and run an interval in the Subaru. I've been looking for a cheap summer oil for that car.

As long as it meets your requirements (SJ, SL, SM) and is a weight suitable for your engine ...sure. Use it and feel confident that it's a "good oil to use".

If it was commonly available here in Pottstown ..and I didn't have so many other choices to use up, it would be on my list of oil suppliers/refiners. Since I'll soon be switching the entire fleet to Amsoil ..my stash may get some dust on it.

I wasn't sure since the it said the TBN was only around 7. Pennzoil and Castrol I thought had around 10. But after reading an article on TBN, I guess it doesn't matter how much is there but how fast it dissapates.
