I have found this in almost every brand of oil that I have ever used. Nothing to be concerned about.

No idea what it is... some have hinted moly. Am not concerned. Figured I'd supply reference pictures... was inspired. You're looking down the "funnel top" bottle at stuff collected in corners.

I think those are great pictures. With your permission I am going to use the top one for a trick quiz I give to lube techs. They usually think they are pretty smart. Qustions #1 "What's this a picture of"? They will never know.

'Same for me. This is why I always shake every jar before pouring the stuff into the car.

I am glad to see that I am not the only one who shakes his oil bottles before he opens them

Do you guys ever wonder if shaking the bottle stirs all the dirt up that has settled?

Found this at the bottom of a half-used gallon of Pennzoil LL 15w40. No date code; bought last summer at Walmart. Didn't shake before using the last of the stuff.

this is nothing compared to the 2to3inches of honey colored goo that I found in the bottom of the Pennzoil(10w30) cans(yes CANS,was years ago,67/68) when changing oil for a customer at my dad's station years ago. The oil that came out at first was clear and that is when I noticed that the can was still heavy feeling and looked inside to see the goo. We had cases(24 to a case than) of it which Pennzoil replaced after giving us 6qts for the one we kept to show them. They never did tell us what the problem was but that insident made me a Pennzoil disident-have never used it in any of my vehicles-ever. Have seen the sediment shown here many a time in other(brands) qt containers over the years.
