This Bosch was used on my 1947 Ford Tractor for 6 months and unknown hours. It saw some sub zero degree days pushing snow and lots of other winter farm chores. This is equivalent to an FL1-A Motorcraft Filter, and was replaced by an oversized Hastings LF426, which is equivalent to a Motorcraft FL-299.

This filter surprised me with how thick the can and tapping plate are. Wavy media likely from winter use. Enjoy!

They're extremely heavy-the D3520 ones I have for my Cummins are the heaviest filters for it I have, and the can is probably twice as strong as the Ultra can is. The D+ has always been a little overpriced, but, on clearance (or FAR as they were when they were introduced), they are a perfectly serviceable one OCI filter.

Yep I got a handful of these for $2 and $3 depending on which Walmart I was at. Did great for that price! These actually have holes, not louvers, with a spiraled center tube. The filter system on the tractor is actually a bypass style, not full-flow. It's really not taxing on the filters. It has a separate copper line that goes to the oil filter adapter from the main oil gallery and then back to the sump via another copper line. Having only a bypass style oil filter is the reason for two oil changes a year, not all the junk goes to the filter. Some of the junk you just have to drain out.

I don't usually recommend it, but you could do 2 oil changes to every filter change in this situation.

The D+ filters I have were also Walmart clearances, most were at the $5 mark, but 2 were @ $3. By the time they hit $2, none that fit my vehicles were left.
I remember looking at the center tubes before buying them though. All of the D3410 (PH2 size) filters were louvers, but I passed on about 1/2 of them, they had very poorly opened louvers.
Only one D3324 (Chevy 2.2/2.4 Ecotec, wish I had found more), and two D3422 for the Scion (one is holes, the other louvers, passed on 5-6 that were poorly opened also).

I could very likely run my oil filters longer on this application, but I don't for a couple reasons;

- I enjoy working on the Tractor. It's therapeutic.

- it gets "short tripped" a lot. Lots of startups and shut downs without warming up completely. Sometimes it gets worked hard bush hogging or punching holes in the dirt, but most errands are shorter, and in horrible/wet/cold weather, and I'm sure condensation compromises the filter media to some degree.

- I have over a dozen filters that fit it in the stash. It would take me 6 years to go through them at two per year.

- I'm a filter and oil at the same time type of guy.

In order of importance (to me).

You are likely correct though, a high quality oil filter would probably last years on this thing.
