Like I said-efficiency could be better, poor construction on the baseplate eating the ADBV (and potentially blocking flow through the filter, which could be CATASTROPHIC on an engine without an external bypass). I run these on the GMC in my sig, and I have used them on my Cummins in the past, they are one of the toughest built & heaviest filters I've seen, outweighing even FG Stratapore filters, but they're not perfect.

The partially cut adbv is nowhere close to blocking the inlet holes. Other than being visually unattractive, no effect on proper functioning of the filter. Unless the adbv is cut all the way, but you can see that before installing it.

There is obviously some hole blockage going on. In order to leave those half moon cuts, the ADBV rubber has to be forced down hard on the holes. And that solid ring area of the ADBV is not going to lift up with oil pressure since it's compressed down hard from the dome spring.

You could install the ADBV into the base plate and clamp it there like it would normally be, and look to see how much hole area is blocked.
