Have read on udder forums that it appears to work for some while others have had that aftermarket shaft also be problematic.
A post by a supposed GM mechanic proclaims that the problem may not always be with the shaft itself but the upper bearing/guide located in the shaft's column.
Some proclaim that using the GM lube kit is as effective as actually changing the shaft.
GM replaced mine under warranty but, a year later, I can feel the beginnings of the slop that steadily worsens.
Guess I'll try the lubrication fix if it worsens then, if that doesn't work, will look into the bushing issue.
Saving that aftermarket shaft as a last resort but would give it a try if all else fails.
